oh my goodness...i don't think there's enough time to in a day to love on this little puppy. she is absolutely the greatest thing that's happened in my life in a very LONNNNNG time and each day i wake up thinking how blessed i am to have her (and she makes sure i wake up every morning on time...no more hitting the snooze button). there are so many little qualities about her that make my heart melt:
- the little squeak/whimper she makes when she yawns for the first time in the morning, or from a long nap.
- her crazy run...it's hard to explain, but it's soooooo funny to watch.
- the way she falls asleep in my arms while i'm driving (shhh don't tell the cops, california is trying to make it illegal for pets to sit on your lap while driving...i know, it's probably not the safest thing, but i just can't help how cute she is)
- when i roll down the window in the car, she rests her head on the door and just stares out.
- the way she follows me around, just to see what i'm up to. she just stares at me, tilts her head and it seems like she's thinking "what are you doing? are you ready to play with me now?"
- the noise of her running down the stairs to greet me when i get home
- when she curls up on my lap in the morning, almost begging me not to go to work
- the way she rests her head on my chest and just gazes up at me with those cute puppy eyes
- her constant need to explore
- the fact she already knows where HOME is...i'll let her out of the car, and she races to the front door to wait to be let in, and when we're on walks, she'll want to sprint home (if only the leash was long enough)
- now that she has all her shots, it's been so much fun "socializing" her with other dogs and getting her out and about at dog parks and beaches. she's so playful and not scared of approaching bigger dogs. there's places i can take her to walk off her leash and i'm AMAZED for such a little dog, she does soooo well. of course, there's a stubborn side to her, but she knows me and she knows her name and will stay close if there's a mean dog or if she gets too far ahead, she'll sit and wait for me to catch up.
- people tell me how cute she is, and i still have to pinch myself that she's actually MINE!!
there are days when i still break down and cry...realizing where i've come from and what i've been through. the fact that i have this little puppy to love is so wonderful. it's a new day...i've been given a new life and now she's part of it...part of my renewal...part of my continued healing.
these are some pictures from the past month or so...i've probably taken hundreds of pictures of her, but i can't help it. today on my lunch break, we even had a little photo shoot outside. i hope you enjoy them as much as i do!!
