APRIL: i went to San Francisco to meet up with my good friend, Jyl, for her bachelorette weekend. we had beautiful weather and it was so nice to walk around the city and to meet a few of jyl's friends from college and to just have some girl time!!
during that same weekend, i got to spend time with my aunt trish! we had a wonderful day spent in monterey! i would have to say that monterey may be one of my favorite places to visit. we had lunch at a cute cafe, walked to a french bakery for some mini eclairs, walked along the water front to the aquarium, then spent a couple hours there looking at the exhibits. i saw the aquarium through different eyes this time because i WORK with fish and exhibits and stuff like that...it made me appreciate my job a little more, and appreciate everything i've learned the past couple years working in aquariums. on our way back, we stopped for ice cream, and the day was full of lots of walking and great conversations!!
april was also the month that bailey got spayed! i truly felt like a mother that whole day...worried about my little baby. she did great through the surgery...it was just so sad to see her so out of it when i brought her home. she cuddled on the couch most of the evening and let out little whimpers...broke my heart! but, she was back to her crazy self a couple days later and the stitches healed and every thing is great now!
MAY: cinco de mayo was so fun this year! i went out with a group of coworkers and even dressed up a little bit. it was a good time to remind me what a different and fun life i'm living now and how happy i am!
jyl and tristan's wedding in seattle was sooooo beautiful!! my mom and i spent the day before the wedding exploring the city and the weather was gorgeous! we had drinks on top of the space needle and enjoyed walking around. the wedding was so fun! there were a few people there that we went to high school with and it was great to catch up with them and celebrate jyl and tristan!
krysten, my dad and i went to the U2 concert in denver. without krysten knowing, she got us club level seats!! it was a great show and we were so happy to share this special memory with my dad!
i was home in colorado for a few days...great family time and just spent time relaxing. i love coming home to colorado...it's so refreshing and brings back so many memories of growing up in such a wonderful place!
JUNE: this month seemed to fly by...and summer in san diego started!!
JULY:
BIRTHDAY WEEK!! this year, i stayed in san diego (krysten went home to colorado) and was able to celebrate with close friends. my birthday celebration consisted of a potluck at my house, which included a table of all my favorite foods and drinks, my coworkers even convinced me to clog to footloose...don't ask me why i agreed, and just fun conversation.
i've become a member of a dog park clique, and we had happy hour to celebrate mine and another lady's birthday (we have the same birthday). it was so much fun and i look forward to taking bailey to the dog park to play with other dogs and sit and chat with my new group of friends (they're a bit older, but it's so fun).
i went out the night before my birthday to celebrate a coworkers birthday (his is the 1st). we went to a dive bar for a few drinks and then went to this wine bar that's decorated from the movie "alice in wonderland."
on my birthday, i woke up, ate chick-fil-a, went and had mimosas with some girlfriends, then laid on the beach for a couple hours. that night, i was treated to a high-end dinner at "ruth's chris steakhouse" and drinks at the top of the hyatt (strawberry lemon drop for me)! soooooo nice!!
on sunday, i went to the san diego county fair. this was my third time going, and it's always nice to try and go once (i won tickets at seaworld, so i didn't have an excuse). i ate a turkey leg, which i probably won't do again, but i did it for the experience. i did the ionic body cleanse foot bath thing where the foot bath water turns colors and they tell you what's wrong (they told me i had parasites and fungus and other things that i didn't believe in)...it was a waste of money. i found this AWESOME dolphin wine glass that was a little too pricey, but i didn't care. rode some rides that almost made me sick, and had a bag of kettle corn. it was a fun day!
forth of july was fun...nothing compared to the fun in monument, but it was still a good time. i spent the day at seaworld, interacting with all sorts of animals: dolphins, belugas, penguins, alligators, porcupine, capybaras, sloth, baby foxes...it was GREAT!! then i went to the beach to meet up with some friends, went back to their place and hung out til fireworks. we drove up the hill so we could see a few different views of the fireworks around san diego. good times!
there's some changes happening in my house...my dear friend, grace, is moving out at the end of this month. kukui and i have already found another roommate, but she is NOTHING compared to grace! grace is moving to tacoma, WA to go to graduate school at the university of puget sound for occupational therapy. i'm going to miss her sooooo much! she's been an amazing roommate and i really don't know what bailey is going to do without her cousin, lily. i'm sure lily won't be looking back, but it's going to be so sad when lily's gone and bailey goes to wait at her door and she's not there.
works going well for the most part. i have days where i get to play with dolphins and those are always the best days. still waiting for that door to open, that right opportunity, that day when my dreams come true!
bailey is still the love of my life...my little miracle! i love her so much and could go on and on about her. she's the best thing that's happened to me!
soooooo...that's the cliff notes version of my life the past few months. i promised my mom i would be better about writing, and i'll try!
stay tuned...me and few of my friends dressed like cows and got free chick-fil-a. i'll post about it another time!
It was so great to have you come to San Francisco and out to Seattle! Thanks for doing all of that! It was so nice to have you, your mom and Krysten there to celebrate with us!
