when my mom got home from work, we loaded the suitcases in a car and started driving. then...to my surprise, we went to the airport! that means i was going on an airplane! i've only been on an airplane once, but i was really little and don't remember it. i was a little nervous but LOVED meeting all the people as we waited for plane to arrive.
Once the announcer person started talking, my mom had to put me in my carrier. it's a little cozy, but she always gives me a treat to chew on and i know that i won't be in there long. we got on the plane and this was my seat for the next couple hours. i slept the whole time and was still unsure of where i was going.
when we landed, i still wasn't allowed out of the carrier. i could see people staring at me and i think at one point, we rode some kind of train, and then a moving staircase thing, and then...i heard a familiar voice...it was NINA!!! i saw nina and pap pap but still couldn't get out. FINALLY...we got outside and i was let out. i was sooooo happy to see them! we got to their car and rode home to monument, co...my first home.
When we got to the house, nina had TOYS for me...she always has toys for me...she's the best!! pap pap took me outside to explore the yard. i saw a strange object and started barking at it, only to hear my mom ask me why i was barking at a water meter...what's a water meter? looked scary to me! the rest of the night, i explored the house a little bit and got comfortable. i slept with my mom downstairs and was so happy to be with her in colorado!
The next day, i got to go and see adam and tara and aj and vivy at their home. i was there once before, but i was sooo little, i couldn't really run around their property very well. i also met their cat, hunter, and wanted to be his friend, but he didn't feel the same way and hissed at me and ran away. i loved playing with the kids and licking their faces and running with them and seeing their treehouse. vivy kept telling me to sit and stay but i didn't really listen to her. all the kids gave me treats, which i LOVED! each kid took turns walking me on the leash...i tolerated it, but i also wanted to run free! what a wonderful place to explore!
that evening, i knew something special was happening...everyone was dressing in orange and blue...and my mom even dressed me up in some sort of jersey. i've NEVER worn clothes before, so this was a whole new experience for me, but i didn't mind it, and i liked that i matched my mom. adam and tara and the kids came over, and two other people came over, doug and lauren. i was excited to meet them...i've heard about them, but this was my first time meeting them. aj brought over a broncos football so he could play with me...i had a lot of fun playing fetch with him, that was so kind of him to think of me! nina brought out these orange stringy things with sticks and vivy was waving them around cheering for the broncos...at one point, aj and vivy wanted me to join them, but i just stared at them. the game started, but i was sooo tired from the day that i fell asleep. i guess it's a good thing i did since the broncos lost.
the next day, i woke up not knowing what the day held. i noticed my mom packing again, so i thought we might be heading back to san diego, but then she left some of my toys so i knew we weren't leaving quite yet. she took me on a walk around the neighborhood (we even passed by the Weed's old house). it's a lot different here...no sidewalks and there's not any other dogs walking around. i heard some of them barking, but never got to meet one.
we got in the car and started driving...and driving...and driving. during the drive, i got to chew on a bone, which i tried to burry in the carpet (i don't think pap pap liked that too much), i got to watch the movie "UP" with my mom...i really wish i could talk like the dog in the movie...that would be AWESOME!! and i tried to climb through the seat to get to nina, but i only got to her shoulder, so i put my head on her shoulder so she could pet me. and i took a nap on mom's lap...the best place to nap!!
we finally stopped somewhere, and i realized we were at a place i've never been...it had this open area and then i rode in this box that moved up and down and my mom had to stick a card in a slot to open the door, and then it was like a HUGE bedroom! after my mom dropped her stuff off, we went for a LONG walk around the neighborhood. THIS neighborhood had sidewalks. my mom found a park for me to run around at AND i even found some mud! we walked back and soon, aunt krysten showed up. the rest of the day was spent watching my mom and aunt krysten get all dressed up. nina and pap pap came into the room at one point, and then everyone left (to go to stacy weed's wedding). they were gone for a long time and i had fun jumping from bed to bed and pushing all the pillows off the bed. my mom and aunt krysten showed back up REALLY late. i slept with aunt krysten that night, just because i don't get that opportunity too often...and because she looks A LOT like my mom!!
the next day, we were in the car for a long time. we stopped at chick-fil-a (my favorite) and mom shared some chicken with me and let me lick her hands, YUM!!! we got back to nina and pap pap's house, and then i was back in the car AGAIN! this time, we weren't driving for as long. then, we got in another car, and there was another dog in it and it was ROCKY!! i met rocky when i was really small. i tried to play with him, but he just slapped me across the face with his big paws. since then, we've sent letters back and forth from colorado to california...he's my friend and i hope he can come visit me at the beach sometime. then we drove for more time, but this time it was into the mountains. i have never been to the mountains so it was fun to look out the window at all the green trees! we finally stopped at this place, and before i knew it, my mom was putting on my broncos jersey again and she grabbed a bottle of something and we walked towards the highway. then we took a picture and all i remember her saying is "i'm in BAILEY, colorado, with BAILEY, in her champ BAILEY jersey, while drinking BAILEYs irish cream..." ohhhhh mother...the things i do for you. then we drove back to where our car was (i took a nap driving back down the mountains) and then i was back at pap pap and nina's house.
that evening, we went over to the hume's house and i met LOTS of dogs and cats!! i also got to chew on a steak bone...that was my favorite!!
the next day, i experienced something i though i never would. my mom took me to church!! i actually got to go inside (i was in my carrier, but that didn't stop me from letting people know i was there). my mom gave me a bone to chew on, but at one point when there was someone talking, i felt that someone might take my bone, so i barked...and then it got really silent, and then i heard my mom laughing and then i felt like a hundred people were starring at me. oh no!! i wasn't supposed to do that, but i would've rather been out of my carrier so i could see everyone. towards the end, people started to sing, and i wanted to sing along too...so i barked, then i felt my mom pick up the carrier and take me somewhere...then i was FREE!! i met a few little kids and other people. then i got to go see AJ and Vivy and they took me outside and walked me around for a while.
After church, we went to someone else's house and i got to meet a little boy, Jude! i had fun exploring his backyard and chewing on some of his toys. i hope i can see him again!
later that day, we went over to the paffett's house and i met LOTS of new people AND i met bert, the basset hound! it took us a while to get used to each other, but we finally became friends and played together. i also met another little boy, named TJ, who gave me kisses and hugs. that house sure had a lot of people, but it was so much fun!!
we ended the day back at adam and tara's house. i got to explore their yard more and even go in their new treehouse. i played with the kids some more and even got to read bedtime stories with them. i didn't want to leave, but knew i had to go back to nina and pap pap's house.
the next day, mom packed up all our stuff and we headed to the airport. i was put in my carrier for another 2 hour plane ride...i slept the whole way and then got to chew on a bone for a while. what a wonderful trip to colorado i had. i got to see and meet soooo many people!! i can't wait to go back! i was happy to be back home and to go to the dog park and see all my friends, but i missed seeing my family!
