Open my eyes and SEE!!!!!!!!

tomorrow is the day...april 3, 2012 that will be a date in history i will never forget!  i am getting laser eye surgery, a procedure called PRK (Photorefractive keratectomy).  this process started about a month ago when i decided to go in for a consultation to see what my options might be.  i had some tests done and was told i was not a candidate for lasik (my cornea is too thin), but i could do prk.  my eyesight is so bad that i'm in the top 1% of the worst vision that this doctor has performed procedures on.  his prescription cut-off is -10.00 and i'm at -9.50.  barely made it!  i got information on the financing part of it (it's not cheap), and i'm able to have a 2 year plan, no interest, so it's do-able for me!  dickens came with me and he's been so supportive and encouraging throughout the whole process.  i had my last consultation last friday to finalize everything and tomorrow's the day!

i don't know if i can describe the feelings i'm having about this.  i've been waiting my entire life for the day i would be able to wake-up and SEE...no more reaching for my glasses, no more scrabbling for my phone to hold it 2 inches from my face to see the time, no more contacts.  i can't believe it!  i've had glasses/contacts since 3rd grade.  i have no memory of ever seeing clearly, so this is a pretty big deal for me.

i have a bit of anxiety about the procedure, not sure what to expect, how i will feel during and afterwards. i'm excited about the healing process...the doctor told me to sleep as much as possible!  that's the best recovery plan EVER!  i love sleeping!!  i won't be able to snuggle with the pups for about a week...too much chance for dander or hair or bacteria getting in my eyes...i'm soaking up my last night loving on them.

dickens will be taking care of me.  he has the next four days off to help me adjust and make sure i'm ok...i'm in good hands!

please pray for me.  pray that everything will go smoothly, that my recovery process will be smooth, that God will calm my nerves tomorrow afternoon, and PRAISE God for this opportunity, for the technology to open my eyes and SEE the world for the first time in my life!
